Jane Saunders is a multidisciplinary artist, educator and composer residing in New York City. As a composer, she incorporates elements of classical music, noise art, intellectualized metal and technology into a diverse range of projects. Her awards and accolades include a partnership with MakerSpace NYC, a non-profit, education and community center, to create a mixed media art installation titled An Agitated Earth (2018). The work, which earned acclaim from environmentalists and art critics alike, was exhibited at the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival at the Abrons Arts Center and the 9th Annual World Maker Faire at the New York Hall of Science. In 2019, Saunders was awarded a Staten Island Arts DCA Premier Grant with funding from The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, which allowed her to complete a composition, AE2.0. This innovative work brings earthquake data to life by applying experimental techniques to the sonification of daily earthquake activity, creating a perpetual art installation application. The work is now in development for iPhone and Android platforms. AE2.0 caught the attention of movie directors John C. Lyons and Dorota Swies, who brought Saunders on to provide the soundtrack to their eco-thriller Unearth (2020), a horror story about the dangers of fracking. She was a prize-winner at the Las Vegas International Film Festival for her independent short film The Letter J (2019). Saunders is also the composer of the musical Paracosm (2019) and has toured internationally as co-creator of the avant-garde noise art project, The Greatest Fear, which won the Independent Music Awards Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal Album of the Year.
